About Us
The first and most important step in retaining Michael L. Brookshire Ph.D., and/or Mr. George Barrett, MBA, MSRC, CRC, CVE as an economic expert is contacting our office. Our contact information is located at the bottom of each page on this website or you may email us by clicking the email link. Initially we would prefer you to phone our office so either Dr. Brookshire or Mr. Barrett can speak with you about the case. By contacting us early, we can facilitate the gathering of necessary information and/or review the work of opposing experts, etc.
Our office must receive a signed written agreement, which will be sent immediately by our office, along with full amount of the retainer before we can begin work on a case. As we are sometimes contacted by both sides in a case, our policy is to proceed with the party who retains us first.
It is our desire that you understand the exact terms of our business relationship in advance. If you have concerns about our mutual, contractual arrangements, we wish to discuss and resolve your concerns immediately. We also ask that you complete and return our Information Guide Sheet. The Information Guide Sheet can be conveniently downloaded from this site by clicking on the Information Guide Sheet link or you may request a hard copy by contacting our office by phone or fax.
A Case Manager will then be assigned to facilitate your work with Dr. Brookshire or Mr. Barrett and will immediately begin working with your office to collect the information and documentation that we need. We may also be able to send you resource materials that are specifically related to your case and your needs.
Working under the direction of Dr. Brookshire and Mr. Barrett, your Case Manager will assemble necessary information and documentation from you and from government sources and private research. Your Case Manager may also help to coordinate the receipt of opinions from related experts, if such opinions are necessary foundations for our own report. Then, Dr. Brookshire and Mr. Barrett will make their decision on methods, data sources, and the values of all estimation variables. Another Case Manager will check the report, and Dr. Brookshire and Mr. Barrett will make a final, detailed review before a written report is sent to you. If you have any questions and Dr. Brookshire and Mr. Barrett are out of town or otherwise unavailable, the Case Manager may be able to answer your questions immediately.
When we have been asked to reach conclusions on economic damages, it is our goal to provide a prompt turnaround time on our comprehensive report. We attempt to provide substantial disclosure in our reports, so that assumptions and calculations leading to our conclusions are clear. We are always ready to participate and be helpful in discovery depositions.
We only work with our own attorney client on scheduling and all other matters. It is solely your responsibility to contact our office in a timely manner to schedule any depositions or testimonies at trial. Please make all scheduling arrangements as early as possible in order to avoid any conflicts in either your or Dr. Brookshire and George Barrett's schedule.
As the case moves to trial, Dr. Brookshire or Mr. Barrett will be checking to see if an updated report is necessary and then preparing demonstrative exhibits. Our goal in final preparation is a testimony that is concise and focused. State-of-the-art methods must be communicated in a common sense way to the trier of fact.
Feedback is always appreciated regarding our reports, your interactions with our staff, and testimony. Please let us know how we might improve our services to you.
