Maintenance/Consumption Deductions in Wrongful Death Cases
In the 2007 book tri-edited by Dr. Brookshire, a Brookshire and Gunderson chapter explored some substantial differences among forensic economists in how consumption deductions are calculated in various states. Drs. Brookshire and Slesnick extended these analyses in a 2008 Southern Economic Assocation paper and articles should follow. The central issue is one that can significantly affect the estimated amount of economic damages.
