National Forensic Practice Surveys
These surveys have been conducted by Drs. Brookshire and Slesnick (and later Luthy) since 1989. The surveys are conducted every 3 years and published in a journal of the National Association of Forensic Economics (NAFE). No other source provides information on prevailing practice among forensic economists in the U.S. and Canada.
The last survey was conducted in February 2009, with the results given as a paper in July 2009 at the annual meeting of the Western Economic Association International in Vancouver, and it is expected to be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Forensic Economics. Among standard results are prevailing forecasts of earnings, medical, and price inflation growth; discount rates and net discount rates; preferences on worklife sources, consumption deduction methods, earnings base determinations, use of data disaggregated by race and sex, and commercial damages discount rates. Please contact us if you would like a copy of the survey results.
